The Cake Mix Doctor Returns!
Ten years ago The Cake Mix Doctor began its extraordinary run as one of the most popular baking books of all time. Now Anne Byrn is back with the all-new Cake Mix Doctor Returns! From the beloved author who showed home bakers how adding buttermilk or cocoa powder, or a dollop of lemon yogurt or teaspoon of grated orange zest could transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, here are 160 new recipes. In addition, Anne shares what she has learned in the past decade as The Cake Mix Doctor, such as better ways to bake and frost a cake, ideas for slimming down a cake, and even how to bake a wedding cake.
Why I wrote this book:
My recipe files were packed with recipes I never had the chance to bake. I was so busy traveling, I had less and less time to bake a cake just for the pleasure of it. And at the same time, after nearly 10 years as the Cake Mix Doctor, I had learned some new tricks. I also wanted to write another book where the signature photographs for each and every cake were at the front.
My favorite recipes:
- Blueberry Muffin Crumble Cake
- Kentucky Blackberry Jam Cake
- Nancy’s Cinnamon Swirl Coffee Cake
Recipes my kids love:
- Cinnamon Streusel Layer Cake
- Hot Lemon Poke Cake
- Hummingbird Cake
Recipes my friends love:
- The Best Red Velvet Cake
- Chocolate Chip Cappuccino Coffee Cake
- Peanut Butter Brownies

Put on your favorite apron, plug in the mixer, and get ready to bake some memories. I've dreamed of creating a yellow cake mix that gets its color from butter and eggs, not artificial colors, and its scent from Madagascar vanilla.
