Best Birthday Cupcakes using other mixes

Can I substitute my mix in this recipe. I know it calls for Butter recipe, but was hoping to use a white or vanilla mix. Want to make rainbow cupcakes, but don't want the yellow of the cake to mess with my colors. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have the cream cheese already so wanted to use it.

I'm really not sure how I missed this post, but I've used a french vanilla mix on these and had success. (Actually, I usually substitute french vanilla for yellow mixes...) What did you end up doing?

I did end up using the vanilla and they turned out great.
