Frosty, thanks for starting this post - I've been away from the board for 3 days and it's been a delight this evening reading about many of our CMD "family" members and their CMD favorites. :D My DH is a little older than me so I retired early about 6 years ago - I was a Human Resources Specialist (Personnel). At 62 I enjoy the slower lane now and much of our time is spent with family (and baking for them) - we have 9 grands (soon to be 10). My mother, a hearty, active 83-yr. old is still busy every day but we visit often and help do what needs doing even though she "fusses" with us that she can handle everything herself. Enjoy limited volunteer work with people more senior than me and am already making things for the adult day care's annual Christmas bazaar held in mid-Nov. I send lots of crafts for them to sell and, of course, cakes and cookies!

Ahhhh! The ever changing favorites list:
Darn Good Chocolate
Ever-So-Moist Chocolate Layer Cake (DH's favorite)
Martha's Lively Lemon
Best Pound Cake
White Chocolate Pound Cake with Rocotta & Orange
Chocolate Cream Cheese Pound Cake (& Mint Ditto)
Banana with Caramel Frosting

Hi Everyone, I'm Regina Grant. I've been married for 44 years. My husband Bob and I have 5 children, 4 girls and yes the last one was a boy! We have 7 grandchildren and an 8th due in January. We've been fortunate to have lived in many areas of the country including Hawaii and Hong Kong. I have always enjoyed cooking and baking. I sew too, out of necessity with four daughters. Tennis, however, is my love and I play competitvely and have for many years. I was never a great baker of "cakes" until CMD. I made pastries and pies, but now my cakes are just as good. I thank all of you on this wonderful board, to which I've become addicted!! I only hope I can master this new format. As for my favorite cakes: Fresh Orange Layer Cake with curd filling
Almond Cream Cheese Pound Cake
Teresa's Coconut Rum Cake (from this board)
DGCC
Fresh Lime Cheesecake
Kathy's Cinnamon Breakfast Cake
White Chocolate Pound Cake with Ricotta
Harvey Wallbanger Cake
Black Russian Cake :
Lemon Lovers White Chocolate Cake
Orange Rum Zum Cake, I could go on and on
Thanks, Regina

Nope, T. Martin, you're not the young'un of the group! That would be me... I'm 22 and still living at home though I will be heading out on my own after the first of the year. I am not married and have no kids, but I've got a longterm boyfriend. I am an assistant manager at a bookstore where I basically give my paycheck right back to them...

My favorite/most requested cakes are:

1) Double Chocolate Rum Cake (I make it with Strawberry sauce rather than Raspberry, though...)
2) Chocolate Midnight Cake
3) Chocolate Amaretto
4) Chocolate Snickerdoodle
5) Chocolate Orange Cake

I like chocolate. Can you tell?

Hi, I'm 24, married, and live in New Orleans until May. We live in a student apartment complex with other young couples. Since I have the least stressful job among my friends these days and have no kids here or on the way, I enjoy using the CMD recipes to make quick cakes to share with the neighbors. Here are my favorites:
Triple Decker Strawberry
Darn Good Chocolate
Susan's Lemon
Fresh Orange
Hershey Bar Swirl
my mom's doctored recipe for poppy seed cake.
I hope to learn a lot from the new board!

HI :D

My name is Marsha, and I am 38 years old, married 12 years, and have two boys whose ages are 6 and 10. I was a stay-at-home Mom until two years ago, which is when I started back to school at a nearby university. It's a juggling act between the kids, their sports, my school work, homelife, volunteering, etc...but, BAKING is my saving grace. It gives me peace, at least for a little while.

I have several cakes that I love, really too many to mention, but here's a few...

1) Chocolate Covered Cherry Cake
2) Better than ? Cake
3) Blackberry Wine Cake
4) Lemon Cake With Lemon Curd
5) Strawberry Cake with Strawberry Buttercream

As a side note, I am very humbled by the fact that some of you list my lemon cake as one of your favorite's (Marsha's Lively Lemon). It means alot to me, especially when I know those words are coming from some of the best bakers on this planet. Thanks.

My name is Lisa and I too, live in California, the Palm Springs area in a city named Cathedral City. I am almost 41 with a 4 1/2 year old daughter and a husband who often acts as if he is my daughter's older brother! :) I love to bake as a hobby and bake a few cakes on the side as a small business. My other hobbies are gardening and karate. Like Barbara Mc, I am a real estate appraiser and have been in the business for quite some time.

My favorite cakes are:

Darn Good Choc. Cake
German Choc. Banana Cake
The Lemon Pound Cake from an early newsletter

and all the wonderful ideas I get from this board which I check daily :D

Greetings! I am Meli, 36 years old, married & mother of two under the age of 5! Yikes! I work full time and am studying for my MBA...Double Yikes! I have always enjoyed cooking for my family, I only got into cake baking in the last few years (Thanks, Ann). My mother-in-law, my aunt and I took the Wilton classes together. I am the only one still using the techniques. Anyhow, the CMD book has become my cake bible! My non-CMD friends are amazed and astounded at my culinary talents. I just smile smuggly and accept the compliments, knowing that my next great cake is only a box mix away!
Favorites:
#5 Sock it to Me
#4 Chunky Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars
#3 Lemon Cheese Bars
#2 Darn Good Chocolate Cake
AND....
#1 Brides Cake with fresh raspberries

Have a great day! Meli

Hello,
I love to bake, mainly for others because cake always seems special-I like the "architectural aspect of assembling and decorating a cake!
Its great to learn everyone's favorite cakes.
Here are mine (in no particular order):
Triple Decker Strawberry-I made a rhubard/strawberry filling for the layers and a buttercream icing for the exterior.
Apricot-Lemon Cake-in a bundt pan-I put a thick puree of apricots on the bottom of the pan and then the batter ontop-glazed w/powdered sugar and apricot preserves (strained).
Chocolate Macaroon Cake.
Darn Good Chocolate Cake.
Marsha's Lively Lemon Cake.
Looking forward to trying more wonderful recipes! :)

Hi, I'm Kirsten, and like Jessica, I'm from Chandler, Arizona too! I work for a tech company as a project coordinator, and just celebrated three years with my wonderful husband. :D

I have to admit, I haven't made five cakes to list here as my favorites, because I am so IN LOVE with a couple of them, I can't seem to move on to try others!! I'm actually surprised that one of them hasn't made the forum's list yet. Here they are:

1. Chocolate Covered Cherry Cake (my all time fav!)
2. Double-Chocolate Rum Cake (try it - you'll love it!)
3. Pineapple Inside-Out Cake (my husband fav)
