I'm trying to make an apple flavor cake for my neice's wedding. I don't want huge pieces of apple or a dark batter with a lot of spices. So far I have tried adding applesauce to white cake mix. There was no apple flavor even after brushing the cake with simple syrup made with apple juice. Does any one know I can get a distinct apple flavor in the cake?

I made the Apple Cider Cake from "The Cake Doctor Returns". It was delicious. Moist and tender with a touch of apple flavor. The glaze is also made with Apple Cider. I'm not sure this is what you are looking for but it's worth a try.

Piper
