I'm making a cake for a "grandparents baby shower" for Sunday School this coming Sunday. Our pastor's wife is in our SS class and we are giving her a grandparent's shower to give her some things she can use at her house for the first grandchild expected in a couple months. The ultrasound says the baby is a girl. So I was thinking about making a Pink Lemonade cake or maybe a Cherry chip lemonade cake. This is a coed group, so need to appeal to all. Not everyone likes strawberry, but all do seem to like lemon. Any suggestions?

Phyllis, I know this may sound a bit plain, but you could always make an almond-cherry, and then just tint it pink. The pink lemonade cake, we thought was extremely sweet, so if you use that recipe, I'm not too sure all would care for it.

I'll bet others have suggestions for this one, as well! :D

I made 2 cherry chip cakes for Valentines Day - 1 was a white mix with maraschino cherries chopped up in it the other was a cherry chip mix with extra cherries. They both got good reviews. I was thinking about doing that, but using some lemon zest and lemon juice instead of the pink lemonade concentrate. The concentrate just tastes fake to me. But maybe the almond-cherry would be the way to go. It's to be served at 10 am, so that might be more palatable in the morning.

Phyllis, I like lemon enough that I even squeeze fresh lemon in my water a lot of times, so I'm not a good critic there. :D

Me too Mary. Two of the members (with husbands) that I spoke with thought Lemon was a good choice. Everyone is dieting and lemon seems like a lighter choice, whether it actually is or not.
