Aloha All,
I'm a relatively new member of the Board and enjoy the daily email traffic. I have both CMDs and am working my way through all the recipes. Before I try a new recipe, I always check to see what other people have said about it.
I usually take my baked goods to my office and I have many volunteer "taste testers!" I live in sunny Honolulu and work for the military. I usually bake late at night, after my child goes to bed, or very early before work. Today I made my "new" favorite cake - the Banana Split Cake - and it was a huge success. I did doctor it up a little by increasing the mashed bananas from 1 cup to 1 1/2 cups. It was very moist and even my picky friends who don't like bananas loved it!
The first cake I tried from CMD was the Amazing German Chocolate Cake and then the popular variation, the Praline Cake. I alway have GC cake mix and frosting on hand - just in case I have to whip up a cake. Other favorites are the Darn Good Chocolate Cake, Marcia's Toffee Poke Cake and the Chocolate Pumpkin Cake with Cinnamon Chips with the luscious cream cheese frosting! Oh yum! My other favorite is the Amazing Brownie recipe that was recently posted. Great!
My co-workers are so happy that I bring them weekly goodies - except they have to exercise more!
Aloha and Happy Baking! :D :D

Hello everyone- :) My name is Mary K. I have 4 grown children and 3 grandchildren. I love to play in the kitchen, which includes baking those wonderful cakes, etc. I really have a hard time choosing favorites. There are many very good ones. I like a moist cake, and really am a chocoholic. My favorite would be a chocolate more than likely, but I take turns making favorites of the other people who are family or friends.

Since it is hard to choose, :? I will just post the following:

Darn Good Chocolate Cake
Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cake
Marsha's Lively Lemon (newsletter)
Lemonade Pound Cake
Chocolate Macaroon Ring Cake from CCMD pages a120-121
Strawberry Cake
Fresh Orange

....and I am still working on trying them all. :)

Mary K.

Hello all,
My name is Chris and I just joined. Married for almost 12 years, with a 9 month old, I'm 36. Like most of the others on this board, I have lots of volunteer testers that I work with. I have the original CMD cookbook, and just borrowed the Chocolate One from my mom, and I'm not sure she's ever gonna get it back. :D I have something to confess, however. I have only made about 3 cakes from both books combined. The reason? I love, love, LOVE one of them so much that I've made it literally dozens of times, and get requests for it CONSTANTLY from family and friends. That one is Gooey Butter Cake. Oh, the mouth waters just thinking about how rich and delicious it is. Ok, I'll stop. I'm actually not a big chocolate cake fan, but I madethe White Chocolate Muffins with Cinnamon Streusel and they are awesome.

Looking forward to talking with others about great cakes,
Chris

Welcome, Mare!

First things first, please register. I've found this to be the best way of getting the most out of the board. You don't have to share anything personal, that's up to you.

Some recipes are shared here on the board. They are either from Anne (the Cake Mix Doctor), from members of the CMD board, or links to web sites. We do not post copyrighted recipes. If you are looking for a specific recipe, do a search to see what comes up. Do you have a particular recipe in mind that you are looking for right now? Try using the search tool. It's quite easy. And everyone here is so very nice and willing to help you out. Just give a shout. They'll answer!

Bottom line, buy the books. Anne has two "Doctor" books out right now that are FILLED with awesome cake recipes. Another "Doctor" book is on the way, I think it will be out this month. It is available at QVC as a pre-ordered item to be shipped on October 20th. This one is "The Dinner Doctor" and it will be filled with recipes for appetizers, main dishes, and again more desserts.

Hi Mare - In case you're not sure how to do a "search", go to the white box at the top of the page, type in the name of the cake you're looking for, and click on "go".

Welcome, Mare! I agree - you'll want to buy both books. You can get a sampling of the goodies you'll find by clicking on Recipe Corner near the top of the page. I'd also like to suggest that you check out the newsletters. More great recipes are included in each one.

Hi,

I'm Maureen from Connecticut. I've been married to a wonderful man for 25 years on 10/14/03. We have two great kids, 20 and 15. Our 15 year old son plays ice hockey, hence, my screen name of icemom.

I am very new to the CMD and this board. This past month a friend brought over a delicious cake (Chocolate Kaluha) and I had to have the recipe. That's when she told me it was a mix. Of course, I was soon the proud owner of both CMD books. I've only baked the Chooclate Kaluha and Chocolate Macaroon cake. Both are wonderfuland I can't believe how easy. I have always been a from scratch baker, but now, well, I don't think I'll ever need to make a scratch cake again. And I'm looking forward to Dinner Doctor!!

Everyone on the board sounds so friendly and I have been enjoying reading the posts.

Maureen :)

Hello, everyone!
I'm Rebecca (most people call me R3) and have been away from this group for quite a while. I'm 43, married to Will, and fur-mom to Bart (17 lb orange tabby, who looks just like a lion cub) and McCoy (black cat who is 1 1/2 years old, 1/2 the size of Bart and climbs everything in sight). I am a project accountant for an international engineering firm. We live in east Tennessee.

Like most of you guys, my 6 favorite cakes change constantly--here are the current favorites:

1) Incredible German Chocolate Cake (try it with a butter pecan or carmel cake mix too)
2) Darn Good Chocolate Cake
3) Ever so Moist Chocolate Cake w/Peanut Butter Frosting
4) Chocolate Cream Cheese Pound Cake
5) Old Fashioned Pear and Ginger Cake
6) Honey Bun Cake

I just made the Old Fashioned Pear cake today--and am wolfing down my 2nd piece as I type this. All I can say is if you haven't already, TRY THIS CAKE--the combination of flavors is marvelous!--r3

 Hi! I'm married to my husband now for 44 years, have 3 grown children and 5 growing grandchildren. I love to bake and just got my first CMD book. I'm getting really enthused about all the delicious sounding recipes. The Double Chocolate Rum Cake was mentioned, so I looked it up in my CMD book and will try it this week. Thanks for all the lushious ideas.

Welcome Bundtgirl, like you, I'll be married 44 years on December 26th, where does the time go? This is a wonderful board with so many talented contributors, young and "older", I hate to miss a day. I'm addicted!
