I looked at the calendar wrong and thought I had another week
I was going to do a trial run with my sheet pan with the sunflowers but I do not have time now. Has any one used it yet and if so with what cake. I wanted a simple but eyecatching; had even thought about thin icing on the flowers but not on the rest???? I just need ideas on this pan since I have not used it yet.

I will do a bundt cake also and maybe apple pie/cobbler. I have two apples trees loaded that I have been working on and that is why this slipped up on me. So I will try to use apples in as many of these as I can. Thanks in advance. Brenda

Brenda,

One thing that I would try with the Sunflower Pan (I am thinking that you have the oblong one with little sunflowers all over versus the one large sunflower on the round pan) is a Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. Put the rings of pineapple where the flower petals are with the cherries in the center. Whatever you decide to do, please let us know how you liked the pan! :D

I have both pans and was considering using them both. For the sunflower pan I thnk I will probably do some light frosting, then each petal a yellow/gold and use some thined down gel color to sort of streak the petals a deeper color.

But yes my question was about the one with the smaller sun flowers. The lady at the bakery supply suggested the same thing. And maybe some cherries for the samller ones. I am about to talk my self out of using that pan and sticking with something I know how it will work time wise.
My youngest is bringing home one maybe two extra guys from college this weekend. So i am flying in and giving house a "lick and promise" housecleaning. He called me with this news when I was at bakery supply getting the clear plastic covers for the cakes. The good part(and I do not mind him bringing anyone home)is any failures will not last as "the offical inspectors" will quickly dispose of them. He had fogotten about the bake sale/livestock show this week too. They were coming in for the football game Friday night and of course home cooking. Oh well it will all work out. Thanks and anyone with anymore ideas let me know I may make that one yet.

Brenda, I just recently made the Chocolate covered Cherry Cake in the Daisy Pan. I frosted it with Shiny Chocolate Glaze and put quartered Marachino Cherries in the center of each daisy -- it looked terrific. I have also made a cake with a Butter Pecan Cake Mix, a can of Coconut Pecan Frosting and followed the directions for the Amazing German Chocolate Cake using the Brown Sugar Caramel Glaze to finish it off. Rum cakes with the Bacardi Rum Glaze also are good in this pan.
Good Luck, Regina

if you felt up to the extra work, dye your batter vibrant colors for the flowers and leaves, let this set and form a skin, and then pour in your batter. Instead of icing, make a semi clear glaze.
