Okay, I figured I couldn't ask everyone to show their cakes if I wasn't willing to show mine, so here's my cake and my challenge. Let's SEE what you've been baking!

This was a simple doctored cake for my daughter's first birthday. But then my layers were uneven and leaning, so I had to decorate to hide the flaws.

It worked out well--the top layer went to the birthday girl to be mashed flat, and the guests ate the rest!

This is one of my favorites that I have done. It was for a storytime at the library, obviously with a dragon theme, heh. I love doing shaped cakes.

Here is the block cake I made for my son's 2nd bday. One of the corners fell off while I was trying to frost it, but since he loves to chew on his real blocks, I said he must have already gotten to this one, too.

Image

I can't find a good pic of my other son's 4th bday cake, and I know I took some, so this one will have to do.
(Can you tell I'm excited to figure out how to do this??)

All those cakes look so nice! Tiffysma, how did you make the tea pot and tea cups?

I agree -- all the cakes are SO beautiful and creative!

Jen, where did you get the idea for the dragon cake?

This is the site where I found the directions for the dragon cake. I got help on my racecar cake here, too. Most of the cakes on that site are too fancy for me to tackle, tho, heh.

My son turned 2 on Easter Sunday. This is the cake I made for him. He adores tools.

I'll second Mary and say I am loving seeing all the pics of the amazing creations of fellow board members. Lately I've been doing a lot of the same things over and over and over again (and more bars and cookies more than anything else) so nothing new and wonderful from my end to take a pic of yet...

Guess I better get baking!

This is my Snickerdoodle Cake. I didn't mean to decorate with squiggles, but my shaky hands make it hard, and this is what came out, heh. I was using a stencil to do the lettering, which is why you can read it, and it doesn't look like spooky Halloween writing, which is what usually happens. :?

And these are my Babyface cupcakes I did for a shower.

When making Life Saver pacifiers, I recommend waiting til the day of to make them, not the night before, cuz mine were all sticky by morning, and some fell apart. Of course, it could have been the corn syrup I was using as glue. Maybe royal icing or something similar would work better.

Jen

(I think this is all the nice pix I have to post. I don't want to take up all the room, heh.)

Ok, I lied. I wanted to show off a bit more, heh.

This is my wedding cake. I baked it, and my sister decorated it. I believe this was the first time I used a Cake Mix Dr recipe. Two layers are white cake, and the middle one is chocolate, but I can't remember which recipes I used. I think the Bride's Cake and Devilishly Good, maybe? Anyway, it was delish, and a year later, when we ate the top layer, it tasted JUST AS GOOD!

Image

And one more....
My oldest's 2nd bday. He kept wanting to play with the round ball cake instead of eating it. It just wouldn't dribble, tho.

Image

I really think I'm done posting pix... honest! It's just so fun, now that I know how to do it!

Oh! Phyllis! that is just so cute and what a wonderful job you did. If this doesn't bring tears of delight to that sweet woman then she just simply doesn't cry, and my guess is, you are going to see at least a few.

I'm so glad Photobucket is now working for you. Congratulations on both that and this very nicely done cake. We are all so proud of your work as we are with the accomplishments of everyone! :D
