Hello evryone, my name is Meredith,I am 25 years old and I am a SAHM to my 11 mo. old son. My DH is in the Marines so we are currently living in Southern California, I am orginially from Ohio though- GO BUCKS!
I recived the original CMD book 3 years ago as a wedding shower gift from my MIL and she is a sweetie for it! I love this book as I have always loved baking and impressing!! However, I haven't gotten to make many cakes from this wonderful book, as my DH has to be fitness-concious for his job, and it is just the 2 1/2 of us in the house! :D
I have made the Buttermilk Devil's food cake and it was lovely- although huge!
I hope to try it again using the darn good choc. recipe instead. and I am very interested in the lethal peppermint.

Anyways, I have an excuse to make a cake in the next few weeks as we are having family out for my son's 1st birthday.
Thank you everyone for your lists...it is helping me narrow down what I should make- I really want it to be a hit!

I am investigating the fresh orange cake with CC frosting- I am looking to fill with Choc. Ganache though- yowza! let me know if you know how to do this!(fill with ganache), Thanks!

Hello, my name is Niamh,I am 34 and a stay at home mom in upstate New York, though I am planning to continue my art career once my daughter gets a bit bigger :D I received the Dinner Doctor cookbook from my mom-in-law and I love it. I was confined to bed for the last 5 1/2 months of my pregnancy and the Dinner Doctor was one of my favorite reads - it is covered in hot pink and green sticky notes for all the recipes I have to try! My favorite cake from that book is the Blackberry Wine cake and I think, so far, that my favorite dinner recipe from it is the pork tenderloin with chipotle and fig jam. Looking forward to talking with you all!
Love,
Niamh

Hi, all :D I am Emily and I am really just starting out with coming to the message board and everything. I love to bake and I really like to make stuff like cookies for the dogs and things like that, but I'd really like to start in with cakes and the like. Things my family won't be afraid to try at Holiday parties. I am 15 years old, and will turn 16 on August 15th of this year.

I ultimately would like to come up with my own recipes. I want to make delicious cakes that people will ask me to make again and again.

I don't really have any favorite cake recipes to post..as I only have ever used box mixes  But I want very badly to make homemade cakes that I can really be proud of.

I hope you befriend you all, and have a permanent stay here. :D

Hi my name is Lyn. I just love baking and for years have done cake decorating. I usually decorate cakes for family only. Many years ago I took several Wilton cake decorating courses to launch my hobby. I have made a wedding cake for my cousin...but, promised myself that I would never do that again. SOOO much stress...but, it was beautiful...
As you can see I have been lurking off and on for quite a while and have finally decided to join in on the fun...my favorite cake is a carrot cake with cream cheese icing...and I just love the Cake Mix Doctor's newsletters...I am looking forward to her blog's as the newletters seem so long in coming!
PS I love to collect recipes and read cookbooks like some people read novels !

Hi, I'm Jane and live in Stuart, FL with my grown daughter nearby in Hobe Sound. We have always "cooked & partied" together and it works out well.

My "most" favorite is the Banana cake with the carmel frosting. (We love that you can make it ahead and it's still fresh and tasty when served.) Everyone loves it and are amazed when we tell them it began with a "mix". We usually make 3 or 4 different ones for a Christmas Dessert party we have each year for about 30 friends. They are all a hit.

I am the 44 year old mother of 4 (20, 18, 10, 9). I live on our family farm in central NY. I bake cakes as a sideline. I love the basics...butter cake, sour cream white, DG Chocolate. I use these as the starting point for many beautiful cakes. I hope to figure out the photo thing and show off a few.

My oldest son leaves 8/1 for basic training in the Marine Corp. My oldest, my only girl, is an education major in college...the youngers, both boys, are good helpers on the farm and love to eat cake!

Hi there, I'm a 37 year old from Seattle currently working at the University of Washington and taking programming classes at night. I had *no* idea there was a forum I could go to to discuss tips, tricks and problems with the recipes from these books, which I very much love using! I love these recipes, as does everyone else I've baked them for. :)

My current favorites:

Snickerdoodle cake (a HUGE hit)
Banana cake with caramel frosting
Strawberry brownie torte
Any of the dark chocolate cakes with the white chocolate cream cheese frosting
chocolate praline cake with whipped cream frosting (messy, but good!)

...and I'm a bake-aholic! I love to cook and bake and I hardly ever use any cookbooks other than the Doctor ones. I have all of them except the Chocolate book, but my birthday is in a few weeks and that was the first thing I requested from my husband (to which he excitedly replied, "Where do I find it??")
My favorite cakes are:
Darn Good Chocolate Cake (almost always asked for when a birthday comes around...I too am the resident cake baker)
Blueberry Muffin Cake (my little brother threatens to send me home if I haven't brought some, and I see him nearly every day)
Melted Ice Cream Cake...try it with Haagen Daaz Bananas Foster Ice Cream and the Brown Sugar glaze.
Ummm...I usually don't stray from these so I can't think of any others!! I am looking forward to expanding my cake horizons, though. It's hard because my husband doesn't like coconut or fruit in cake, so I limit my baking to what he'll eat or bring to work!

and I live in the Panhandle of Florida with my husband and 7 horses. We have one child that's in his second year at Florida State. I wish I could say that cooking is my "forte", but my motto is "where there's smoke, I'm cooking!" ALL cakes are my favorite and if you saw me you'd agree, but if I had to pick one I'd have to say Red Velvet is a big favorite around my house. I'm here for tips and friendship :)

Hello,

I am Peggy and I am in Connecticut.

I am trying to get my little side cake business off the ground and have had a few orders and hope to keep growing.

I really don't think that I have had the cake yet that I would call my favorite. While I like all cakes, chocolate being my least favorite (I feel that I am the only 1 on earth who can say they really don't care one way or the other about chocolate) I keep trying new recipes until I come up with my ultimate favorite.

Until I find The 1 I would have to go with carrot cake. I made the CMD carrot cake with the orange cream cheese frosting and it was great.

Hello to everyone!!!

Hi my name is Alyssa I am a single mother to a 10 month old little girl. I have a side buisness decorating cakes. Now that I have a child I tend to lean more towards cake mixes. My grandmother got me the Cake Doctor books. They are now my godsends.

My name is Valerie. I'm 39 and single and live in Baltimore. I've never really been much of a baker, so it's sure been fun the past few months since I've been cranking out Cake Mix Doctor recipes for potlucks and dinner parties to be developing a reputation as the go-to lady for cakes! My favorites (and my friends' favorites!) so far (I'm going by memory, so sorry if I don't get the names right):

1) Strawberry cake with strawberry/coconut/pecan frosting
2) Chocolate almond cake with chocolate almond cream cheese frosting -- I also make this substituting raspberry extract for the almond extract...mmmm!
3) Peanut butter and jelly cake -- I pick whichever of the basic white or yellow mixes I have the ingredients on hand for, swirl some jelly in the batter, and then cover with peanut butter frosting. It has been universally adored so far!

I've made several other recipies, but those are the ones that have gotten replays so far. The Cake Mix Doctor is hands-down my favorite cook book. If only I could live on cake alone, I'd be in luck!

~Valerie
