Diane, do you have the URL for the recipe, since we can't post recipes from other sites or copyrighted ones? They are edited out. Thanks!

Sorry, Mary...here is the link for one of the recipes. It looks like there are quite a few variations of this recipe.

Cracker Candy

See if that's better!

Thanks for the link and the recipe! I made it just now and it's cooling. I did what some of the reviews at allrecipes suggested and that was to use brown sugar instead of white. I also used chopped almonds, and used saltines. Very east and I had the ingredients on hand. Thanks so much! Looking forward to it cooling and seeing how yummy it is!

OH Yes! Dawn, by all means use brown sugar for the extra flavor it gives, and some even use those cinnamon graham or chocolate graham crackers, etc. for a little different twist. I have several recipes for similar and was surprised to see them called so many different names depending on the section of the country, I almost believe, and maybe, a name that a family decided to call them when they were tasting them one time, and it stuck. I know we have things like that here at my house.

We have things that special people have given us and we even call it by the person's name sometimes, so I guess that's the way names get changed. One such thing is a shop bench brush my Daddy gave me years ago, and it's very fondly known as the "grandpa brush." The boys are asking me about the "Grandma Peanut Butter Cookies now, because no matter how many other kind I make they are just totally convinced there isn't another peanut butter cookie even half as good. I think a whole lot of that was the love Mama put in those cookies. :D

Yummmmmmmers! :) These are very tasty! Kind of like almond roca, but much easier on the teeth! And for those of you who have made these before, I wonder how well they keep?

Mary, I liked your story about "Grandpa's brush" and "Grandma's pb cookies" It's the love that adds to the memories. In fact my sister and I were shopping for Thanksgiving foods and we were deciding on what to have for the vegetable. I asked her what did we have when we lived at home, and I remeber only having it for Thanksgiving? Our annual treat was canned asparagus! So guess what we're having for our vegetable this year?? :) Memories are precious!!! I'm very thankful for them!!!

I've made these for years, but I use Honey Graham Crackers and white sugar (1 cup), butter (1 cup), and cinnamon. Mini chips and pecans. I'm making them tomorrow to mail to a neice. I used to make them for her all the time when we lived in the same town. She calls them Heath Bars. Even though I have given her the recipe, she never has luck with them as her sugar and butter become grainy. I've made with other graham crackers, as well as Ritz, but our favorite is the way I started making them with Honey Grahams. For sure, they are good and keep very well. They freeze, also. Opal

This subject got me interested in doing some more research on uses for crackers in desserts. I found this recipe which uses both a cake mix and crackers. I am posting on this side of the board since the thread was already started.

Sounds very interesting. I was thinking of using a chocolate cake mix and maybe substituting Godiva liquor for the lemon juice? Anyone think of other variations that could work?

Barbara,
I couldn't get the link to open. will try tomorrow  Wait a minute I think it is coming up  I agree this sounds interesting, I'd probably make it as is since my husband loves lemon bars and he loves Eagle Brand Milk lemon pie. What is Godiva liquor? I don't know anything about liquor or wines :?

Mary, the link is working. I tested it earlier and then just again now, so maybe the site itself was just down for a little bit. Sometimes that happens, and sometimes they are just slow too, so be patient.

I just checked and this tells about Godiva liqueur
