Catherine, after reading your problem with your angel biscuits on Thanksgiving; I looked at the recipe in DD. For years before I remarried, I was part of a Sunday Night Dinner crowd, much like your Tuesday night. My Angel Biscuits were my most requested recipe. But mine are allowed to rise, like rolls and are so light and fluffy.

I found this recipe, which is very similar to mine (which I don't have a recipe for):

Angel Cream Biscuits

Come to think of it, I had trouble with the angel biscuits, too, and I thinks I remember reading some posts of similar difficulties. Catherine, you are in good company; it wasn't you!

I hadn't seen a discussion on it before nor had I noticed the recipe in DD book. I did notice that it says to add 1 extra tbs sugar and cut in triangles to make scones. So it's not a recipe that's going to rise or be soft.

Thanks, Kathy. That's what I meant, that it wasn't Catherine.

The one I posted is a very good recipe and is what I know as Angel Biscuits.

Yes I realize now that I should have rolled them out thicker and not expected them to rise.... the DD recipe flat out says that they won't rise. If I rolled them out thicker they would be perfect for strawberry shortcake! Yum!

Thanks for this recipe - will keep in mind for next time.

Tiffysma, thanks for the link. Making good biscuits from stratch isn't one of my baking succes stories, but I'll give these a try since they look so easy.
